Licence to Deceive: Sharjah Police Catch Driver with Fake Plates and 137 Violations

What began as a scheme to evade traffic cameras has now resulted in severe legal consequences. Sharjah police apprehended a driver who installed counterfeit license plates on his vehicle in a deliberate effort to evade surveillance by traffic monitoring systems.

But the reality caught up quickly. Authorities discovered that the driver had accumulated 137 traffic violations, 308 black points, and a staggering amount of unpaid fines, amounting to dh104,000. To add insult to injury, his car had been impounded for over two years, totaling more than seven months off the road.

The authorities in Sharjah have reiterated that altering licence plates is a criminal offense, cautioning motorists that such actions not only put others at risk but also result in severe legal penalties.

The message is clear: cheating the system doesn’t yield any benefits — and eventually, the road leads to consequences.
