Dubai is currently working on extending the Salik toll system with the goal of enhancing the city’s transportation network! New Salik gates have been added to the main roads in the emirate to enhance traffic management and make travel easy for everyone. With the installation of the 10 gates, Salik, an electronic toll collection system managed by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), can now be accessed throughout the emirate. Motorists save time and help reduce traffic congestion with automatic prepaid toll payments.
Furthermore, the system improves commutes in a different way. Dubai’s Salik toll system is introducing a new program that allows some residents to qualify for fee exemptions, which goes steps further in demonstrating inclusiveness. This new development embodies Dubai’s persistent goal of making life better for everybody residing in the city.
Who is Eligible for the Salik Fee Exemption?
If you or a relative satisfies any of the subsequent criteria, then you are entitled to apply for the exemption:
Intellectual disabilities
Physical disabilities
Autism spectrum disorder
Visual disabilities
The program is designed so every resident, irrespective of financial means, has the opportunity to drive on Dubai’s roads, thereby promoting inclusivity for all.
